Taj MahalThe Taj Mahal in Agra, India is a burial memorial for Mumtaz Mahal. She was the most favored wife of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.

The Taj Mahal has 2 to 4 million visitors per year. Most come in the cooler months which are October, November and February. Traffic can not come near the structures because of pollutuion, so people have to walk from the parking area or take an electric vehicle. The Taj Mahal is a frequently recommended destination, and is also on a few listings of seven wonders of the modern world, and also said to be considered as New Seven Wonders of the World, by a poll of 100 million votes.

When visiting due to security only 5 things can be brought into the Taj Mahal. These are water in clear bottles, small video and regular cameras, cell phones and small purses.


Agra's climate is sub-tropical and can be extreme, temperatures are as high as 113°F (45°C) in the summer with lows as 35.6°F (2°C) in winter. The rainy season is considered to be between June and September and gets rainfall of 26 inches (660 millimeters) per year.
